Uzbekistan and China accelerate bilateral relations

The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and China has doubled in recent years, the number of joint ventures and projects has tripled, $11 billion of Chinese investments have been attracted to Uzbekistan. After the pandemic, with the restoration of regular flights, contacts between regions, educational, cultural and humanitarian exchanges intensified. Such information was made public during the talks between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, who is on a study visit in Tashkent, UzA.uz reports.

During the meeting, it was emphasized with particular satisfaction that, thanks to political will and joint efforts, bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented high level. The leader of Uzbekistan noted the importance of thorough preparation for the upcoming state visit to China and the Central Asia-China summit.

There was also an exchange of views on issues of the international and regional agenda.

The importance of the speedy implementation of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway construction project, for which technical documentation is currently being prepared, was emphasized.

Particular attention was paid to the need to continue close coordination in matters of a peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan and to provide practical assistance to the socio-economic development of this country.

Qin Gang flew to Uzbekistan from Moscow, where he paid his first foreign visit after being appointed Chinese Foreign Minister.
