The Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Uzbekistan, Mohammadali Iskandari.
The meeting focused on the prospects for cooperation in the digital process. Both sides shared their proposals for experience exchange, joint projects, and partnership mechanisms between companies, reports Uza.uz.
Special attention was given to the implementation of bilateral initiatives for the effective use of digital technologies.
It was noted that these initiatives would serve to strengthen cooperation in the IT sector between the two countries.
In 2024, it became known that Iran and Uzbekistan are planning to create a joint technology park in Samarkand. The park will focus on healthcare, the digital economy, and the culture industry.
Earlier, in 2023, the two sides agreed to exchange information in the fields of artificial intelligence and nanotechnology. It was also decided to open the Iranian House of Innovation and Technology (IHITT) in Tashkent. It is designed to be a platform for knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and the development of an innovative ecosystem between the two countries.
Additionally, in 2022, during a meeting between Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Iranian Vice President Sorena Sattari, an agreement was reached on adopting a "roadmap" for implementing joint solutions and signing agreements, including those within the framework of the upcoming Uzbek-Iranian Innovation Forum and business events.
