Uzbekistan And Iran Sign Transit Cooperation Memorandum in Tehran

A memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding cooperation in transport and transit was signed between Iran and Uzbekistan in Tehran, Eurasiatoday.ru reports.

The signing ceremony took place at Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, with the participation of Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash (corresponding to Farzane Sadegh in the original), Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport and Communications Ilkhom Makhkamov, and Saeed Rasouli, Deputy Minister and Director General of the Ports and Maritime Organization, according to Iran’s IRNA news agency.

The agreement, designed to enhance transit and investment collaboration between the two countries, was signed by Bekhzod Nurmatovich Khalmatov, Head of Strategic Policy at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport, and Kazem Salehi, Director General for Transit, Logistics, and Agreements at Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization.

Under the memorandum, Uzbekistan’s private sector will be offered investment opportunities in the construction of a dedicated terminal and logistics complex at Iran’s Shahid Rajaee Port.

Additionally, Tehran and Tashkent agreed to simplify permitting procedures and facilitate investment plans for Uzbek companies involved in developing the new logistics hub and terminal.
