Ministers of Energy of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Bolat Akchulakov held a working meeting with Alexei Miller, Chairman of the Board of the Russian PJSC Gazprom, Ritmeurasia.org reports.
The meeting participants discussed the possibilities of trilateral cooperation in the gas industry, taking into account the fact that last month Gazprom signed bilateral roadmaps for cooperation in the gas industry with the government of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
Later, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan reported that, in accordance with the signed road map, a working group was created between the parties. It will take the technical measures necessary for the transit of Russian gas through the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline passing through the territory of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. After the working group technically completes all the work, the main conditions for the supply of natural gas will be discussed.
It is noted that the negotiations and the "road map" between Uzbekistan and Gazprom are aimed at supplying natural gas to the domestic market in the required volumes while fully maintaining ownership of the existing gas transmission system of Uzbekistan.
The head of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan Mirzamakhmudov commented: “This is a road map that provides for measures to import natural gas from Russia. That is, we will study the technical conditions, and then, based on technical capabilities, if we agree on commercial prices, we will consider gas imports from Russia. After the gas enters the pipeline, we will distribute it to all consumers - residents and industrial enterprises ... There is no talk of privatization or management of the gas transmission system.”
