Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed to speed up construction of common railway

The continuation of an intensive political dialogue and the acceleration of the implementation of priority programs and projects are important directions for the bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. This was stated during a meeting in Tashkent between the Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Zheenbek Kulubaev, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan informed.

The dialogue addressed issues related to further strengthening Uzbek-Kyrgyz relations of friendship, good neighborliness, and comprehensive strategic partnership, as stated in the press release.

"The leader of Uzbekistan expressed deep satisfaction with the high level and fruitful nature of bilateral cooperation achieved in recent years, including the noticeable activation of contacts and exchanges at the parliamentary, governmental, regional, public, and business levels," the statement said after the negotiations.

It was reported that the efficiency of the Joint Commission and the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund was noted during the meeting. The parties highlighted the growth in trade turnover and freight transportation, the implementation of cooperative projects in machinery, electrical engineering, textiles, agriculture, and other sectors, as well as the regular conduct of joint cultural and humanitarian events.

It was particularly emphasized the importance of continuing the intensive political dialogue and accelerating the implementation of priority programs and projects, including the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
