Uzbekistan and Qatar Accelerate Joint Energy Projects

TASHKENT - Uzbekistan and Qatar intend to intensify cooperation in the energy sector and accelerate the implementation of joint investment projects, Uza.uz reports.

These issues were discussed at a meeting between Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Trade Ahmad bin Mohammed Al Sayyid.

The parties noted the strengthening of bilateral relations and successful cooperation in the energy sector.

With the participation of the Qatari company Nebras Power, major projects are being implemented in Uzbekistan in the Syrdarya, Surkhandarya, and Navoi regions. Specifically, thermal power plants are being built in the Syrdarya and Surkhandarya regions, and a wind farm is planned for launch in the Navoi region.

During the talks, the parties discussed accelerating the implementation of projects worth over $3 billion, the development of electricity distribution networks, and the prospects for new energy initiatives.

Following the meeting, further steps were identified to expand cooperation, implement modern technologies, and launch new investment projects.
