Uzbekistan and United States discuss future of Afghanistan

Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held talks with US Ambassador Jonathan David Hannick, Nova24.uz reports.

The parties discussed the current situation in Afghanistan, the prospects for the development of Uzbek-American relations in the Afghan direction.

The US ambassador highly appreciated the policy pursued by the leadership of Uzbekistan to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan, and also outlined the importance of further close cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States of America on the peaceful settlement of the Afghan problem.

The parties agreed on the need to achieve national reconciliation in Afghanistan as soon as possible, as well as the fulfillment by the new authorities of the country of their obligations to the world community.

The special representative of the President of Uzbekistan spoke about the new government of Afghanistan. Irgashev answered the question why Uzbekistan maintains contact with this country.

Earlier it was reported that the special representative for Afghanistan explained the rapid takeover of power by the Taliban. Ismatulla Irgashev said that Ashraf Ghani's government team came unprepared.
