As part of his visit to the United States, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a series of meetings with key figures from the U.S. economic sector. The primary outcome of the talks was the signing of an agreement to establish a joint investment platform, aimed at elevating the strategic partnership between the two nations to a new level, Daryo.uz reports.
During a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, it was noted that the United States has solidified its status as one of Uzbekistan’s leading economic partners.
- Trade Turnover: Has surpassed the historic milestone of $1 billion.
- Business Presence: Approximately 340 American companies are successfully operating in the Uzbek market.
The President also held negotiations with the leadership of major financial development institutions—EXIM Bank Chairman John Jovanovic and Ben Black, CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
Key cooperation priorities identified:
- Expanding financing for large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects.
- Supporting the import of high-tech equipment from the United States.
- Implementing projects through the newly established investment platform.
Concluding the business segment of the meetings, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited his American partners to participate in the upcoming Tashkent International Investment Forum, which will serve as a venue to finalize the agreements reached in Washington.
President Mirziyoyev is in the U.S. for an official visit at the invitation of President Donald Trump and will participate in the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council.
