Uzbekistan is solidifying its position as Central Asia’s leading textile and fashion manufacturing hub — overcoming logistical hurdles through the creation of a dedicated Light Industry Development Agency, backed by a $200 million state fund, reports Jordan’s Ammon News.
The synergy of international trade fairs — CAITME and TextileExpo Uzbekistan — is unlocking unprecedented opportunities for local manufacturers, the article notes, enabling them to access cutting-edge technologies, forge global partnerships, and expand into international markets.
Notably, CAITME has been ranked by UFI (The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) as the leading textile exhibition in the CIS region — a testament to Uzbekistan’s rising influence in global textile supply chains.
These platforms are not only promoting Uzbek brands abroad — they’re transforming the national industry. TextileExpo Uzbekistan has become a regional magnet, uniting manufacturers, buyers, and distributors from across Central Asia and beyond. In 2024 alone, Uzbekistan’s textile exports reached $3.5 billion, with ambitions to double that figure to $7 billion by 2030.
Since 2017, the country has pursued an aggressive modernization agenda:
- 500 new textile factories launched
- 250,000 new jobs created
- Shift from raw cotton exports to high-value finished goods — fabrics, garments, and fashion brands
Key export markets now include Russia, China, the European Union, and Turkey. The newly established $200 million Agency will further accelerate growth by funding innovation, digital transformation, branding, and global trade show participation — ensuring Uzbekistan doesn’t just produce textiles, but sets trends.
