The North-South transport corridor is important for the interconnectedness of the Central Asian countries with international markets, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in a greeting to the participants of the Innoprom. Central Asia exhibition, the PRIME portal reports.

"Uzbekistan is resolutely promoting regional projects... It is for these purposes that we have decided to join the North-South transport corridor," said Mirziyoyev. His greeting at the panel session of the exhibition was read by Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev.

This corridor is aimed at strengthening the transport and communication interconnectedness of Central Asia with foreign countries, Mirziyoyev said.

Routes such as the North-South corridor will make it possible to create effective trade logistics chains and form optimal routes for the delivery of goods to international markets, the President of Uzbekistan said.

"North - South" is a multimodal route from St. Petersburg to the port of Mumbai (India) with a length of 7200 km. It is an alternative to the sea route connecting Europe, the countries of the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean through the Suez Canal. There are three ITC routes: Trans-Caspian (using railways and ports), Western and Eastern (overland).

A three-day exhibition "Innoprom. Central Asia" opened in Tashkent on Monday. More than 300 companies from Russia, Uzbekistan and other CIS countries are represented in the exposition of the exhibition.
