The Uzbek authorities did not transfer exclusive rights to all oil and gas fields to Russian companies for 35 years, Uzbek Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov said, Sputnik reports.

It was only about the 25 Years of Independence gas field, located in the south of the republic and being developed under the terms of a production sharing agreement. And the main part of the fields being used belongs to JSC Uzbekneftegaz, Mirzamakhmudov said.

"The information that Uzbekistan allegedly transferred the exclusive right to all gas and oil fields to companies associated with Russia for 35 years is false and misinterpreted information," the minister added.

Mahmudov also noted that at least 50% of the net income from this project will go to the treasury of Uzbekistan.

Earlier, the Uzbek service of Radio Liberty * disseminated information that in 2017 Uzbekistan transferred to Russia full control over all gas and oil fields in the country for 35 years.

Recall that in 2021, VEB of Russia, Gazprombank and the operator of the 25 Years of Independence field, Surhan Gas Chemical Operating Company, signed an agreement on its development. The contract amount was $900 million.
