Uzbekistan doubles gasoline imports in 2023

The volume of gasoline imports to Uzbekistan increased several times in 2023. In the first four months of 2023, 335.2 million liters of gazoline were delivered, which is almost 2 times more than in the whole of 2022. The total value of imports amounted to $136.67 million, or $0.4 per liter. Almost the entire volume fell on Russia, according to the Gazeta.uz portal.

In 2022, Uzbekistan imported 161.68 million liters of gasoline for $99.28 million, or $0.61 per liter (6,782.3 soums per liter at the average exchange rate of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan last year). Brands of gasoline are not given.

Most of the supplies (88% of the share) came from Russia - 142.7 million liters for $88.44 million ($0.62, or 6846.4 soums per liter).

The second place in export (10.1%) was occupied by Turkmenistan - 16.34 million liters for $8.85 million ($0.54, or 5985.8 soums per liter).

Small volumes of deliveries were from Belarus, Tajikistan and Turkey.

However, already at the beginning of 2023, the volume of gasoline imports increased several times. In the first four months, 335.2 million liters were imported, which is almost 2 times more than in the entire last year. The total cost of supplies amounted to $136.67 million, or 40 cents per liter, which is almost 50% cheaper than last year.

Almost all imports (97.7%) came from Russia. In 2023, Uzbekistan has already purchased 2.3 times more gasoline from Russia than in the whole of last year - 327.8 million liters for $132.3 million ($0.4, or 4,579 soums per liter).

Turkmenistan supplied 2.15 million liters (0.6% share) for $1.41 million ($0.65, or 7452 soums per liter), from Belarus - 2.33 million liters for $1.7 million (0. 73 dollars, or 8316.7 soums).

Uzbekistan also began importing gasoline from Kyrgyzstan - 2.76 million liters (0.8% share) for $1.11 million ($0.4, or 4,555 soums per liter).
