Uzbekistan expands geography of exports of its goods

Experts from the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research analyzed changes in the geography and nomenclature of Uzbekistan's exports in 2017-2022, Nova24 reports.

In 2017-2022, the geography of exports expanded by 16 countries and now Uzbekistan's products are exported to 117 countries of the world. In particular, Uzbek products are supplied to Peru, Albania, North Macedonia, Senegal and Mauritius. In 2017, there were 179 items on the export list, and in 2022 their number exceeded 200.

By decision of the authorities, the export of cotton fiber from Uzbekistan has completely stopped. The cotton processed in Uzbekistan is now supplied to foreign markets in the form of higher value products.

In 2021, Uzbekistan exported cotton yarn for a total of $1.613 million, of which:

ready-made knitwear and garments — $644.9 million;
printed fabrics by $242.8 million; gauze fabric by $131.6 million;
silk and silk products - $ 78.1 million;
carpet products - $ 42.1 million.

Uzbekistan is also increasing the export of household appliances. In recent years, exported to foreign countries:

vacuum cleaners - to Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan;
washing machines - to Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Turkmenistan, Turkey;
gas stoves - to Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia;
TVs - to Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan.

Earlier it was reported that in Uzbekistan tourism has become one of the "points of growth" of the national economy.
