Uzbekistan intends to modernize energy system of Tashkent with Rosatom

The Uzbek authorities have agreed to modernize the energy system of Tashkent with the Russian state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom, Asia-today reports.

Rosatom is going to send a team of specialists to the capital of Uzbekistan. They will assist the city in improving the city's electricity and heat supply, as well as preventing system outages. The parties signed the relevant agreements, the portal reports.

An agreement on the participation of Rosatom in solving energy problems was previously reached between the acting khokim (mayor) of Tashkent Bakhtiyor Rakhmonov and the director of the design bureau for energy efficiency and infrastructure solutions of Rosatom Yuri Mishin.

During the meeting, Rakhmonov noted the importance of continuous modernization of the Tashkent energy system and expressed his interest in cooperation with Rosatom to achieve positive results.

Mishin, in turn, emphasized the existing opportunities for effective inventory of system organizations, as well as the use of advanced methods and technologies to optimize the workflow.

At the end of 2022, Uzbekistan and Russia came to an agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan, and the process of selecting an appropriate site for a nuclear power plant is already underway there.
