Deepening Uzbekistan's ties with the Eurasian Economic Union will give a powerful impetus to the development of direct cooperative ties, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the Russian-Uzbek business forum in Samarkand, RIA Novosti reports.

"For further joint work, we consider it necessary to deepen Uzbekistan's ties with the Eurasian Economic Union. In terms of market capacity, industrial and agricultural potential, mutual interweaving of economies, the Union is one of the leading regional integration associations. It has about 190 million consumers," Mishustin said.

The decision to grant Uzbekistan the status of an observer state opened up new horizons for the republic for further economic growth, the head of the Russian Government noted.

"A full-fledged membership in the EAEU will give a powerful impetus to the development of direct cooperative ties in new areas of interaction. And one more significant moment," Mishustin added.

In particular, according to him, the Union is interested in ensuring that Uzbek goods meet high Eurasian standards. This is important for the realization of the four fundamental freedoms - the movement of goods, services, capital and labor.

"The heads of our states - Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev - set the task of increasing trade turnover to $10 billion. I believe that business ideas, mutually beneficial deals and projects will help achieve such an ambitious goal. The governments of Russia and Uzbekistan will provide maximum support to the initiatives of the business community" Mishustin said.

Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin was on a two days working visit to Uzbekistan and together with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov took part in the plenary session of the Russian-Uzbek business forum.
