The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan is studying the possibility of importing oil from Kazakhstan at "reasonable prices" for its subsequent processing at the republic's refineries, Podrobno reports.
"Due to the geopolitical situation in Europe and the growing demand for Kazakh oil in the European market, KEBCO (Kazakhstan Export Blend Crude Oil) oil prices fluctuate. Therefore, at present, in accordance with a bilateral agreement reached between the leadership of the ministries of energy of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, the possibility of importing oil from Kazakhstan to the refineries of Uzbekistan at affordable prices is being studied," the statement said with reference to Uzbekneftegaz JSC.
According to the newspaper, at the recent talks in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh side also "expressed interest in studying the processing of its own raw materials at refineries in Uzbekistan on the terms of tolling."
