The upper chamber of Uzbekistan’s parliament has approved the law “On Space Activities.”

The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan reviewed the law “On Space Activities.” The law defines the key concepts and principles of space activities, the objectives of their implementation, and the main directions of state policy in this field. It also outlines the powers of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Digital Technologies and its subordinate Agency for Space Research and Technology, as well as the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan in the area of space activities.

Additionally, the law addresses scientific research of outer space, types of space systems—including remote sensing of the Earth, space monitoring, state space monitoring, space communication systems, high-precision satellite navigation systems—as well as issues related to the use of space rocket complexes (cosmodromes), labeling, leasing of space objects, disposal of space objects and technical equipment, security of space infrastructure and activities, financing of space-related activities, and international cooperation.

Special attention in the law is given to the study and use of outer space and the Earth through space technologies to achieve goals in scientific, socio-economic, environmental, defense, and security fields, among others. It also includes measures for monitoring the impact of space activities on the environment, natural resources, and public health.
