The Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan reacted to reports of boycotts of the World Championship in Tashkent, Nova24.uz reports.

Competitions will be held from April 30 to May 14. Several countries around the world have declared a boycott of the competition due to the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine. In particular, the boycott was supported by the United States, Great Britain, Canada and the Czech Republic.

The International Boxing Association is responsible for the registration of participants, the Uzbek side cannot choose who will compete and who will not.

Uzbekistan is the organizing state of the tournament and deals with organizational issues. At the time when our country received the right to host competitions, there were no restrictions on the participation of some teams or athletes in international tournaments, the Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan said in a statement from the Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan.

The ministry also noted that Uzbekistan is a state that adheres to international sports standards and supports the principle of "sport is out of politics."
