Uzbekistan ranked 120th out of 146, scoring 29 on the crime index and 71 on the safety index, making the country the safest in Central Asia. Such data is provided in the published crime index by the statistical platform Numbeo.

The platform generates an index based on the results of a survey on the website. In total, 96 respondents from different regions of the republic took part in it.

They told the service how often crimes such as home invasion, robbery, theft, car theft, assault, insults, racism, drug trafficking, vandalism, weapons trafficking, and bribery occur in the country.

The smallest number of crimes was noted in the field of car theft, the largest in bribery.

Safety is assessed separately - for this, respondents are asked to rate how safe they feel while walking during the day and at night.

The closest neighbor to us is Kazakhstan, which took 75th place in the list, scoring 45.6 and 54.4 points. Neighboring Kyrgyzstan comes next with 54.1 and 45.9 points. But Tajikistan and Turkmenistan were not included in the rating at all.

Afghanistan is recognized as the most unsafe country in the region; on a global scale, it is ranked fourth among the most dangerous countries.

Since the end of last year, work to combat corruption and crime has intensified in Uzbekistan. Representatives of the criminal world were detained in Tashkent and other large cities of the country. Some of them have already received their sentences.
