In the first half of 2024, Uzbekistan significantly increased its gas imports, increasing their volumes fourfold compared to the same period last year, Dunyo reports.
According to the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan, the country imported natural gas worth $809.5 million in January-June.
At the same time, gas exports in the first half of 2024 decreased by 13.3% compared to 2023, amounting to $241.4 million.
In June, the country imported gas worth $166.3 million and exported it worth $181.5 million.
According to the General Administration of Customs of China, China has imported domestic gas worth $235 million since the beginning of the year. Uzbekistan also supplies gas to neighboring Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
