President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting in Tashkent on reducing inflation in 2023, the Nova24.uz portal reports.

Inflation is not only a macroeconomic indicator, but also a factor affecting the income and standard of living of the population, the final document of the meeting notes. According to the results of 2022, inflation in Uzbekistan amounted to 12.3%. This year, it is planned to reduce this figure to a level below 10%, using all economic mechanisms for this, the document says.

President Mirziyoyev stressed that "for this it is necessary to increase the production of consumer goods, including food, reduce the cost of their logistics" from field to table "and ensure their affordability."

Instructions were given on the effective use of 200,000 hectares of land allocated to the population to increase agricultural production.

Earlier it was reported that the economy of Uzbekistan survived against the backdrop of the conflict in Ukraine. The International Monetary Fund called on the leadership of Uzbekistan to closely monitor inflation.
