Uzbekistan to become chairman of Non-Aligned Movement

The ministerial meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku was attended by delegations from 93 countries and 11 international organizations. The delegation of Uzbekistan was headed by Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, Nova24.uz reports.

The meeting participants discussed regional and global issues, as well as the main areas of work of the Non-Aligned Movement in the near and long term.

Following the meeting, the next Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement approved the candidacy of Uzbekistan.

We express our gratitude to all members of the Movement for supporting the candidacy of Uzbekistan for the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement for 2027-2029, Minister Saidov said after the vote.

After the meeting, the Uzbek Foreign Minister held talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, with whom the dynamics of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations were discussed.

Saidov held talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the former head of national intelligence, whom Recep Erdogan appointed as Foreign Minister after his re-election.

We had a fruitful conversation about further deepening bilateral relations across all areas of our agenda, which is becoming much broader than ever. The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Turkey are committed to the further comprehensive development of relations between our countries, the Uzbek Foreign Minister said following the talks.
