According to a unanimous decision by the participants, Uzbekistan will lead the Council during the 2024-2025 period, reports RIA Novosti.

Mikhail Myskin, Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee, nominated Shukhrat Munnavarovich Kadirov, Director of the Agency for Space Research and Technology under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan (Uzbekcosmos), for the position of Chairman of the Council. Taking on the new responsibility, Shukhrat Kadirov initiated a proposal to strengthen cooperation in space education. He suggested raising collaboration to a qualitatively new level, with a particular focus on implementing joint projects for training young specialists.

Kadirov also emphasized the ambitious goals facing the council in the coming years. Among them are the development of space activities, coordination of efforts within the framework of the UN, and further deepening of cooperation in space technologies between CIS countries.
