"Uzbekhydroenergy" has launched the construction of six hydroelectric power stations with a total capacity of 228 megawatts on the Naryn River in the Namangan region of Uzbekistan. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev initiated the construction of the facility, the press service of the Uxbek President reports.

The project cost is $434 million.

It is expected that the energy facilities will generate up to 1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.

This will enable Uzbekistan to annually save up to 310 million cubic meters of gas.

Another important feature is that these hydroelectric power stations will be built using equipment and technologies produced domestically. In other words, this will be the first hydroelectric power station fully equipped by Uzbekistan itself.

These stations will employ 133 people, with 4,000 people working during the construction period.

Currently, in the Namangan region, there are power plants with a total capacity of 913 megawatts. Over the past three years, electricity consumption has increased by 24%, and naturally, it will continue to grow.

Therefore, three projects totaling $1.1 billion and a total capacity of 1,228 megawatts have been designed for the region. This includes a cascade of hydroelectric power stations and two solar power stations. The latter are being implemented by German and Emirati companies.

It is worth noting that in 2025, the launch of energy storage systems with a total capacity of 200 megawatts is planned in the Pap and Uychin districts of the Namangan region.

These projects will contribute to balancing the unified energy system during periods of increased consumption and ensure a stable supply of electricity to consumers in Uzbekistan.
