Uzbekistan will double the limit on export of jewelry from December 1. Thus, it will be possible to export jewelry from the country, the value of which does not exceed $10,000, Uznews reported.
Such a decision was taken during a videoconference, held under the chairmanship of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on the use existing opportunities and new reserves for the further development of local industry.
A wide range of opportunities in the $300 million jewelry industry was highlighted at the meeting.
In order to support domestic jewelers, the Uzbek authorities introduced several measures from December 1:
• Guarantees of all banks and the Export Promotion Agency are accepted for deferred payments in gold and silver;
• for individual jewelers the possibility of obtaining a guarantee will be created;
• the license requirement for temporary import and export of gold, silver and other raw materials necessary for the manufacture of jewelry is cancelled;
• precious and decorative stones used by jewelers are exempt from customs duties;
• It is allowed to export jewelry worth up to $10,000 (currently up to $5,000 is allowed).
The khokims of the respective regions were instructed to launch jewelry trade and production complexes in Samarkand, Bukhara and Kokand.
