Uzbekistan plans to triple uranium production and 1.5 times gold production by 2030. This was stated by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting with voters in the Navoi region, TASS reports.
Uzbekistan produces most of the gold and uranium in the Navoi region.
"All opportunities will be created to increase the production of copper by 3.5 times (500 thousand tons), gold - by 1.5 times (155 tons), silver - three times (500 tons), uranium - three times by 2030. times (10 thousand tons)," Mirziyoyev was quoted by the press service of the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, whose candidate for the presidential elections is the current president of Uzbekistan.
Uranium reserves in Uzbekistan will be increased from 67,000 tons to 100,000 tons through the implementation of 11 projects worth $550 million at the Navoiuran enterprise, Mirziyoyev said.
In addition, such raw materials as lithium and graphite will be produced in Uzbekistan for the first time. In particular, according to Mirziyoyev, 8,000 tons of lithium will be produced in the Tashkent region, and 50,000 tons of graphite per year in Bukhara, the party said.
Uzbekistan is one of the five largest uranium producers in the world.
Mirziyoyev is the most likely winner among the four presidential candidates in Uzbekistan. The presidential elections in Uzbekistan will be held on July 9, 2023.
