The damage to businesses in Uzbekistan from power and gas cuts is estimated at trillions of soums, Uzbek Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov said, Kun.uz reports.

“The damage is very huge. The damage is estimated in the billions or even trillions. When there is no electricity and gas, production decreases, taxes are not paid, and exports decrease. The development of the economy is slowing down,” the Minister toldRadio Ozodlik.

As an example, Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov spoke about the activities of Farg’onaazot.

“In order to provide residents with natural gas, the Farg’onaazot plant was disconnected from gas. As a result, by the end of the year they cannot produce goods worth 300 billion soums. This is a simple example for you. We analyze everything,” the official said.

In conclusion, Mirzamakhmudov stated that the state would first of all provide gas to the population.

At the moment, 1 US dollar costs 11,220 Uzbek soums.
