Uzbekistan has produced 9 billion kWh of electricity from its solar and wind power plants since the beginning of 2025, according to the Ministry of Energy. Over the past four weeks, generation increased by approximately 1 billion kWh, reports Gazeta.uz.

The country currently operates 12 solar photovoltaic plants and 5 wind farms with a combined capacity of 4,682 MW. The Ministry estimates that their operation has saved 2.73 billion cubic meters of natural gas and prevented the emission of 4 million tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere.

As of the evening of October 22, the total generation from all hydro, solar, and wind plants reached 14.52 billion kWh, with green energy accounting for 23% of total electricity production, up from 20.3% in July.

“This amount of energy is enough to power 7.5 million households for 10 months or meet the annual electricity needs of 6 million households,” the Ministry noted.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev previously stated that by 2030, the share of green energy in the country’s total generation should reach 54%, making the current figures a significant step toward sustainable energy development.
