The volume of exports of precious metals in Tajikistan for the three quarters of this year decreased by almost 40% compared to the same period in 2021, the Avesta agency reports.
The proceeds from the sale of precious metals amounted to more than $421.1 million, or 59.4% of the same period last year, according to the official statistics of Tajikistan for the third quarter of 2022.
In January-September last year, the sale of precious metals amounted to almost $709 million.
According to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, there are 18 gold mining companies in the country and the production of this metal is growing every year.
However, the mininstry does not share data on the actual volume of gold production in the country, citing the secrecy of information about the extraction of the precious metal.
Last year, the sale of precious metals accounted for 41.7% of the country's total exports, according to the republic's official statistics. Precious metals were sold in excess of $896.6 million, up 30% from 2020.
