A presentation of the new World Bank Group Country Partnership Framework with the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026–2031 was held in Dushanbe, the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan reported. The event was attended by representatives of key ministries and government agencies, as well as senior officials of the World Bank.

At the presentation, Tajikistan’s Minister of Finance and World Bank Country Manager Faiziddin Sattor Kakhkhorzoda noted that the World Bank remains one of Tajikistan’s largest institutional partners. Over recent years, with the Bank’s support, projects have been implemented in the energy, water supply, transport, and social sectors, including programs in remote and mountainous areas.

According to the materials presented, the new strategy focuses on four key priorities: job creation, sustainable development of the energy sector, expanding the role of the private sector, and strengthening human capital. Particular emphasis is placed on improving the efficiency of hydropower, developing regional electricity trade, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, which account for a significant share of employment outside the public sector.

A less widely known aspect of the strategy is the strengthening of the climate and digital agenda. In particular, the World Bank plans to expand support for projects on climate change adaptation, water resource management, and the introduction of digital solutions in public services, education, and healthcare. Technical assistance is also envisaged for financial sector reform and improving the investment climate.

During the discussions, the parties confirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation and agreed on preliminary steps to launch new projects starting in 2026. It was noted that the strategy will be implemented in close coordination with national development programs and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The new Country Partnership Framework is intended to support Tajikistan’s sustainable socio-economic growth, increase investment inflows, improve the quality of human capital, and promote the country’s deeper integration into regional and international economic processes.
