Uzbekistan and Iran to cooperate in field of cinematography

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Iran Fariddin Nasriev held negotiations with the director of the Tasvirsazan Setareh Soheil company, the famous Iranian film director Sirus Muqaddam. The parties reviewed the prospects for cooperation in the field of cinematography, Eurasiatoday reports.

The Iranian film director is the author of more than 30 films and TV series, including famous films such as “Hungry Wolves”, “Nargiz”, “Capital” and “Michael”.

At the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between states, especially in the field of cultural and humanitarian interaction, including in the field of cinema.

They expressed their readiness to continue contacts and cooperation in the field of cinema.

Sirus Mukaddam expressed his intention to visit Uzbekistan to personally become familiar with the potential of Uzbek cinema and opportunities for further joint projects between filmmakers from the two countries.

In February 2023, Iran and Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum on expanding cooperation in the field of cinematography.

Earlier in 2020, Tehran and Tashkent signed:

  • Intergovernmental program of cooperation in the field of tourism for 2020-2023
  • Intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of culture and art between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
  • In recent years, several cultural projects have been implemented between the two countries.
  • In the third quarter of 2024, an exposition of the Iranian museum of the scientist and philosopher Abu Ali ibn Sina (Avicenna) is planned in Bukhara.

The initiative to hold the exhibition was supported after a meeting between representatives of the Bukhara region administration and Iranian colleagues in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Other joint cultural initiatives include:

  • holding annual Iranian Culture Days in the Republic of Uzbekistan;
  • exhibitions of Uzbek artists in Tehran and other cities of the Islamic Republic;

In September 2023, Iranian musicians participated in the Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival in Samarkand,
Uzbek filmmakers took part in the Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran (February).
