Kazakhstan is relocating companies that have officially announced their withdrawal from Russia, Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Almas Aidarov said in the Senate, Interfax reports.
"To date, 401 companies in which we are interested in moving to Kazakhstan, invitations have been sent to all these companies. (...) To date, 67 companies have responded positively to us, work is underway on them, and relocation has been completed for 25 companies. 38 countries are participating in this, mainly Germany, the United States, Switzerland and Japan," Aidarov said.
He noted that the Kazakh ambassadors meet with parent companies.
"The main companies that have completed the relocation, which are rumored - the American Honeywell opened a small production in Almaty. TikTok also moved its office to Kazakhstan. Indriver in Kazakhstan, Fortescue Australian, Alstom French, Ozon opens a logistics park in Astana," Aidarov said.
Last September, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, reported that about 50 companies operating in the non-primary sector, out of more than 300 large foreign companies that left Russia, expressed a desire to localize their production and offices in Kazakhstan.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to create favorable conditions for the relocation to the republic of companies that left the Russian market.
In early December 2022, Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov reported that 19 companies that had left Russia had localized their production and offices in Kazakhstan.
