In 2023, Tajikistan was visited by 1,358,000 people from the CIS countries and beyond, according to Kamoliddin Muminzod, the head of the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of Tajikistan, Avesta reports.
"The head emphasized that according to the annual rule of law ranking by the American Gallup research center, the Republic of Tajikistan ranked first among 142 countries in the world for the level of safety, stability, and citizens' trust in law enforcement agencies," noted Kamoliddin Muminzod.
He also mentioned that the total number of visitors in 2023 was 1,358,000, out of which 1,256,200 people or 92.5% came from CIS countries, and 101,800 people or 7.5% came from distant countries.
Among the total number of foreign citizens visiting Tajikistan, 1,201,000 were considered tourists, which is 201,000 tourists or 20.2% more than the same period last year.
According to the data, tourists from 121 countries visited Tajikistan. The top five leaders in the number of tourist entries were:
- Uzbekistan with 805,900 people (15% more than the previous year),
- Russia with 262,400 people (92.8% more than in 2022),
- Kazakhstan - 31,500 people (31.8% more than the previous year),
- China - 13,000 people (490% more or 4.9 times more than in 2022),
- Turkey - 10,800 people (61.2% more than in 2022).
In 2023, tourist services were provided by 306 entities, including 190 hotels, 34 hostels, 52 sanatoriums, 8 health centers, 10 recreation houses, and 4 tourist bases. Among this number, in Dushanbe, 36 hotels, hostels, motels, and other types of accommodations with a total capacity of 1,925 rooms and 3,720 beds served domestic and international guests.
