The number of officially settled foreigners in Kyrgyzstan is currently 22,800 people. Such data were announced by the Deputy Minister of Labour, Social Security and Migration Nurdoolot Bazarbayev at a meeting of the council on migration issues under the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, 24.kg reports.
In 2022, 11 thousand foreign citizens received a work permit in Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan annually allocates 16,000 quotas for a work visa officially.
A certain part of those working in Kyrgyzstan are Chinese citizens, attracted by Chinese companies to implement large projects, in particular in the development of gold mines and the construction of roads.
The representative of the Ministry of Labor of Kyrgyzstan also announced the number of digital nomads in the country. According to the results of the first quarter of 2023, 1,286 foreigners received this status.
Meanwhile, according to various estimates, the number of labor migrants from Kyrgyzstan ranges from 700,000 to 1 million people. Most of them are in Russia.
