Arkadag of Turkmenistan held talks with leadership of UAE

Chairman of the People's Council (Halk Maslakhaty) of Turkmenistan, National Leader of the Turkmen people (Arkadag) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks and discussed issues of enhancing partnership in the energy sector with the official authorities of the United Arab Emirates during his official visit, Turkmen television reported.

Berdimuhamedov held talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Chairman of the UAE Cabinet, Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The parties discussed the development of bilateral partnerships in the energy sector, transport and communications sector, industrial cooperation, agriculture, shipbuilding, high technology, as well as the financial sector in the implementation of important projects. Particular attention at the talks was paid to intensifying cooperation in the fuel and energy industry, the oil refining industry, and the investment sector.

Arkadag stressed the readiness of Turkmenistan to significantly expand cooperation with UAE companies in the fuel and energy sector. According to him, this is of great importance in the light of solving the problems of diversifying the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan and commissioning new enterprises for the production of high-quality export-oriented products.

On January 21, Turkmenistan adopted draft constitutional laws on amendments and additions to the country's constitution, on the creation of the supreme body of people's power - the Halk Maslakhaty and on the legislative consolidation of the status of ex-head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as the National Leader of the Turkmen people. Turkmenistan also returned to the unicameral parliament - the Mejlis, headed by Berdimuhamedov Sr.
