Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, spoke on behalf of the country at the general debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York. In her speech in Uzbek, she presented Tashkent's position on key global challenges, including human dignity, international law, and the regulation of artificial intelligence, Gazeta.uz reported.
Mirziyoyeva emphasized that, amid geopolitical tensions and growing inequality, Uzbekistan is choosing openness, good neighborliness, and respect for human dignity. She stated that the true strength of a state is determined not by military or economic potential, but by its ability to protect the rights and interests of its citizens.
Particular emphasis from the UN podium was placed on the need to reform the organization itself. Tashkent advocated for increasing the effectiveness of preventive mechanisms, adapting the structure to modern realities within the framework of the UN-80 initiative, and expanding the membership of the Security Council.
Furthermore, the representative of Uzbekistan mentioned the country's upcoming chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement and announced the republic's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2035–2036, calling on the international community to rely on uniform and immutable norms of international law.
This speech at the UN General Assembly is of great significance for Tashkent. It demonstrates the institutional maturity of Uzbekistan's foreign policy, which is prepared to assume responsibility in international structures.
