The head of the Khukumat of the Sughd region of Tajikistan, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, said that he, together with his Kyrgyz counterpart, agreed to open the border, which had been locked up for more than two years, the Dialogue: Tajikistan and the World reports.

The border will be opened ifirst - for entrepreneurs and residents of the border area. Earlier, the heads of law enforcement agencies of the Sughd region of Tajikistan also announced the possibility of opening border checkpoints.

According to R. Akhmadzoda, during the recent negotiations held on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, the main attention was paid to the issue of opening the state border and resuming trade between the countries. In July, three delegations led by the chairmen of Sogd, Batken and Ferghana met in Cholpon-nat, Ahmadzoda said.

Davron Zohidzoda, Deputy Chairman of the Sughd region, told some details of this meeting: “The Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Kyrgyzstan in Batken said that the border should be opened in stages. First of all, you need to start with the border markets located on the territory of Isfara and Batken. Everything that was in the past, according to him, is in the past and there is no need to stir it up again. We need to start everything from scratch for the sake of the well-being of the inhabitants of the region.”
