The issue of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border was not discussed at a meeting of representatives of the Defense Ministry of the CSTO countries in Minsk, the Tajik Foreign Ministry said, Avesta reports.

The commentary of the Tajik MFA states that “we drew attention to the information of the Belarusian side on the results of the meeting of the heads of the departments of international military cooperation of the ministries of defense of the CSTO member states, which was held on March 1-2, 2023 in the city of Minsk of the Republic of Belarus.

The delegation of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan also took part in the work of this meeting, during which the Belarusian side informed about the priority areas of its chairmanship in the CSTO in 2023.

At the same time, we note that there were no issues of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border on the agenda of the event. Moreover, there was no discussion on “developing proposals for relieving tensions on the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan”, which was announced on March 4, 2023 by a representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus.

Issues related to the passage of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border line are discussed exclusively at the level of government delegations of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic,” the Tajik Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
