Central Asian countries to simplify cargo transportation conditions in region

Central Asian countries are set to enhance the process of land transport cargo movements in the region. An agreement to this effect will be signed during the V Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States, which will take place in Dushanbe on September 14-15, 2023, the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan reports.

The initiative aims to establish strong relations among the countries in the region in the field of transport and logistics. The draft agreement envisages:

  • Creating favorable conditions for the development of international land transport.
  • Ensuring a competitive environment in the Central Asian transport services market.
  • Increasing efficiency and establishing new international corridors, including multimodal ones.
  • Simplifying the process of land transport carriage and transit.
  • Developing modern transport and logistics services.
  • Implementing and using innovative technologies, including digitizing the land transport carriage process.
  • Encouraging and promoting the use of environmentally friendly modes of transport.

Within the framework of the upcoming event, a summit of transport ministers from the five countries in the region will be held for the first time. During the summit, the heads of the ministries will discuss transport and logistics relations and their further harmonization.

At the end of the meeting, transport ministers from Central Asian countries will adopt a joint communique.

"In Dushanbe, transport ministers from the region will also hold bilateral meetings. A cultural program will be organized for them as well," according to the Tajikistan Ministry of Transport.
