President of Uzbekistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed a proposed reform of the country’s military education system, Gazeta.uz reports.

The presentation took place in line with the directive issued during the Security Council meeting held on February 21. Based on the analysis of military education systems in more than 20 countries, a new national model has been developed aimed at the comprehensive modernization of Uzbekistan’s military education.

A central element of the reform is the establishment of the University of Military Security and Defense, based on the existing Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan. This new institution will incorporate all educational establishments under the Ministry of Defense — five institutes, the Higher School for Sergeant Training, and a school for aviation and unmanned systems specialists (all with institute status).

The reform aims to build a centralized structure, enhance combat readiness, expand dual-track education, and integrate scientific research into military training.

The Higher School for Sergeant Training will introduce a new system to develop leadership skills and modern combat tactics. A “2+2” hybrid training model will also be launched, selecting second-year students from civilian universities for focused military education in 18 specializations, including psychology, communications, logistics, and supply chain management.

A new state scholarship named after the Supreme Commander-in-Chief will be established for military graduates. Recipients will be allowed to enter military master's programs without exams for up to five years after completing their bachelor’s degree.

The reform also includes the introduction of a dual-degree system — combining military and civilian qualifications — in 36 fields, enabling service members to continue their careers after military service.

To improve teaching quality, military instructors will undergo training abroad.

President Mirziyoyev approved the proposed initiatives and issued instructions for their implementation.
