President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Zhaparov, and the Deputy General Director of the Chinese company China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., Wang Tungjun, discussed the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project in Bishkek, according to the Bigasia.ru portal.

During the meeting, Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan fully supports the initiative of the President of China, Xi Jinping, "One Belt, One Road". He stated that the largest transportation project within this initiative is the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which, according to him, will have a positive impact on the trade and economic cooperation between the countries. Moreover, it will not only connect China with Central Asia but also open up new transportation routes to European and Persian Gulf countries.

President Zhaparov informed that the construction of the railway is planned in the next few years. The parties have already agreed on the general mechanisms for implementing the project, including the establishment of a joint project company involving three states.

In turn, Wang Tungjun noted that the parties are ready to accelerate the implementation of the project by expediting the stages of development, environmental impact assessment approval, and agreement signing.
