In Turkmenistan, a Center for Climate Technologies in the Central Asian region will be established. It will be opened with the support of the UN. This was announced at a seminar on climate change adaptation for decision-makers in Turkmenistan, Daryo.uz reports.
The event was held within the framework of the project "Development of the National Adaptation Planning Process in Turkmenistan," implemented by UNDP with financial support from the Green Climate Fund (GCF), according to the statement.
The participants discussed various issues related to climate change, the ecology of the Aral Sea, prevention of desertification processes, protection of biodiversity, and the environment.
In addition, aspects of sustainable water resource management were also considered.
As the organizers of the event stated: "Climate change is a global threat that requires coordinated actions in all sectors of the economy, especially in such critical areas for Turkmenistan as water management and agriculture."
