In the event of a threat to Tajikistan from Afghan territory, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Collective Forces will respond within 12 hours, Anatoly Sidorov, head of the CSTO Joint Staff (JS), said, Sputnik reports.

The CSTO will not allow provocations from Afghanistan regarding the territorial integrity of Tajikistan, which is the organization's southern border, Sidorov stressed.

"Believe me, no one will ever leave Tajikistan. The CSTO understands that the republic is the southern border of the organization, quite complicated and difficult," said the head of the CSTO JS.

The CSTO forces are ready to stand firm and not allow any provocations against the territorial integrity of both Tajikistan and, in general, member states from the south, Sidorov said.

He explained that it is necessary to continue to monitor the situation on the Tajik-Afghan border, because there are many forces, including in Afghanistan, who intend to destabilize it.

"The main task is to prevent the suddenness of these actions," said the head of the headquarters of the CSTO JS.

According to the CSTO, at present the number of the Islamic State terrorist organization in Afghanistan has increased to 6.5 thousand militants, of which up to 4 thousand are concentrated near the southern borders of Tajikistan, in the Afghan provinces of Badakhshan, Kunduz and Takhar.
