Defense ministers of China and Kazakhstan discussed expanding military cooperation

Kazakhstan and China intend to pay special attention to the prospects for expanding military cooperation between the two countries. This was discussed at the negotiations between the heads of the defense ministries of Kazakhstan Ruslan Zhaksylykov and China Dong Jun, reports the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

One of the key topics of discussion was the possibility of holding joint military exercises.

The Kazakh minister emphasized that the defense departments have favorable opportunities for organizing joint exercises, and there is also significant potential for interaction in the field of training military personnel, developing ties in the field of culture and sports.

Zhaksylykov also congratulated his Chinese colleague on his recent appointment to the high post of Minister of Defense of the PRC.

“It is symbolic that your first visit in your new position took place precisely in Kazakhstan. This is clear evidence of the enormous trust and long-standing friendly relations between our peoples,” said the head of the Kazakh military department.
“One of the priority tasks is to further strengthen interaction within the SCO,” the Chinese minister emphasized.

As a result of the negotiations, the parties signed a plan for bilateral military cooperation between Kazakhstan and China for 2024, designed to expand the areas of partnership in the defense field.

Let us remind you that today, April 26, the Meeting of Defense Ministers of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will begin.

The event is held within the framework of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the SCO. It will be attended by the heads of the defense departments of India, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

In addition, the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure and the Minister of Defense of Belarus were invited to the meeting.
