Uzbekistan detains officials involved in energy problems

The Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, Nigmatilla Yuldashev, disclosed some information about violations of the law in the field of energy supply in Tashkent, Nova24.uz reports. He spoke at a meeting of the Republican headquarters on the issues of balanced provision of the population and sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan with energy resources.

A criminal case was initiated against Muzaffar Aliyev, director of the Khududgaz Toshkent branch, which is a structural subdivision of Khududgaztaminot JSC in the Tashkent region, he was taken into custody as a preventive measure, Yuldashev said.

In addition to him, criminal cases were initiated and a measure of restraint in the form of detention was applied against the head of the Yangiyul regional gas supply enterprise, Umid Tuychiev, and the former head of the Gulistan regional power grid enterprise, Furkat Shodmonkulov.

If responsible persons in other regions do not draw the right conclusions from this and violate the law, such criminal cases will undoubtedly be initiated against them, Sardor Umurzakov, head of the presidential administration of Uzbekistan, said.

Uzbekistan faces an energy crisis due to a sharp cooling in early December, a critical situation arose with the provision of fuel and lubricants and electricity. The country's government has developed specific steps to overcome the situation and ensure a stable supply of energy resources.
