Discussion with Turkmenistan onimplementation of TAPI and TAP projects held in Islamabad

Representative of the Prime Minister of Pakistan for Trade and Industry Rana Ihsan Afzal Khan, as part of a business delegation, held talks with representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad, Turkmenportal.tm reports.

During the meeting with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan, Atajan Movlamov, the parties discussed the implementation of major joint projects - the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, the power transmission line and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) fiber optic communication line.

At the talks, the parties noted the importance of the recent visit of the Turkmen delegation to Pakistan and the signing on June 8 of the Joint Plan for the Implementation of the TAPI Gas Pipeline Project, which is an important step towards the implementation of the project, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said.

The parties agreed that the TAPI and TAP projects will contribute to the prosperity of the region and the economic growth of Pakistan.

Rana Ihsan Afzal Khan, on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, expressed support for the early completion of these energy projects.

Discussing the prospects for trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan, the parties emphasized the huge potential of bilateral trade in the energy sector, the source notes.
