The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is prepared to develop mutually beneficial solutions for Tajikistan, said Nikolai Kushnarev, Director of the Department of Industrial Policy at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Sputnik Tajikistan reports.
Speaking at the Central Asian International Economic Forum in Dushanbe, Kushnarev emphasized that the EAEU offers Tajikistan broad opportunities for industrial development, energy, and the agricultural sector.
“The EAEU ensures the free movement of goods, which could serve as a springboard for Tajikistan to access not only the Union’s markets but also international markets,” he noted.
Kushnarev highlighted key areas of cooperation, including participation in the “Belt and Road” initiative, the “Eurasian Agroexpress” project, and the simplification of trade procedures through unified standards.
Particular attention was given to the potential of turning Central Asia into a logistics hub for European and Eurasian companies seeking to enter Asian markets. “The EEC is ready to act as a platform for dialogue and finding solutions that meet the interests of all parties,” added the official.
Tajikistan has been considering membership in the EAEU since 2015, carefully studying the experience of current member states. Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously stated that deeper cooperation with the EAEU offers Tajikistan significant economic opportunities.
Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, confirmed that Dushanbe continues to analyze all aspects of potential membership, assessing its possible impact on the country’s economy.
