A roundtable discussion titled “Ambassadorial Dialogue on Regional Cooperation” was held on February 6 at the Islamabad Institute of Regional Studies (IRSI) in Pakistan.

In his speech, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Atajan Movlamov outlined several major energy and infrastructure projects initiated by Turkmenistan, including TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline) and TAP (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan transmission line).

He placed special emphasis on the start of construction for the Serhetabat-Herat section of the TAPI transnational gas pipeline.

The ambassador noted that, in addition to ensuring energy security, these projects would:

  • Stimulate economic development in the region,
  • Have a positive environmental impact,
  • Create tens of thousands of new jobs,
  • Improve living standards in Pakistan.

Ambassador Movlamov also drew attention to the UN General Assembly Resolution proclaiming 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust at Turkmenistan’s initiative.

He elaborated on Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, which aims to consolidate international efforts to strengthen peace and trust in global relations.
