The first test transit shipment of cargo from China to Europe via Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia has taken place, reports the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.

"For the first time in history, a trial transit road transport of goods is being carried out along the route China-Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan-Georgia through the sea ports of Kuryk and Baku," the report states.

It is specified that the first three Chinese trucks weighing 80 tons traveled the transit route. They departed from the city of Urumqi in China, reached the port of Kuryk in the Kazakh city of Aktau, and were loaded onto a ferry to cross the Caspian Sea and continue along the route.

"For the first time in history, road transport from two countries is able to directly reach all major trading cities of the parties and even make transit passage through the territories," said Ali Altai, Chairman of the Committee for Road Transport and Transport Control of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.

Altai noted that currently, goods from China are delivered to Western countries by sea or rail. The delivery times are up to 52 and 22 days, respectively. The road transport route will reduce the delivery time to 12 days.
