A feasibility study for the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project will be prepared by June 1, 2023, Economist.kg reports with reference to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
A special meeting was held in Tashkent to discuss the railway construction project, which was held by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
As part of the promotion of the construction project, in November 2022, field studies were carried out along the route of the railway by China's first design and research institute.
“During the report, the responsible persons spoke about the planned work. In particular, a project office will be created in Bishkek. Forms and order of project management are discussed. Negotiations will be held with international financial organizations. In general, it is planned to prepare a feasibility study for the project by June 1,” the statement said.
Mirziyoyev approved plans for the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, as well as other projects, and instructed to develop road maps in cooperation with partner countries.
Tripartite agreement on the construction of the railway was signed in September 2022 in Samarkand by the official representatvives of the involved in project countries. China has committed itself to prepare a feasibility study for the project. The approximate cost of building the road is estimated at no less than $5 billion, the Kyrgyz government said.
